What to Wear When You Don’t Know What to Wear
We’ve all had those mornings.
You’re standing in front of a closet full of clothes thinking, “I have absolutely nothing to wear.”
Most of the time, the problem isn’t that you need more clothes. You just need a few easy outfit formulas you know will work.
At Cruz By Design, we’re big believers that getting dressed shouldn’t be complicated. Start with pieces you feel good in, add a few finishing touches, and get on with your day!
Start With the Jeans You LOVE
When you don’t know what to wear, start with a great pair of jeans.
Not the jeans you wish fit differently. Not the pair you keep because maybe someday you’ll wear them. Grab the ones that make you feel good the second you put them on.
Straight leg, flare, wide leg, barrel—it doesn’t matter which style is trending if you love the way you feel in them.
Then build from there.
Outfit Formula #1: Great Denim + Elevated Top + Statement Shoe
This is probably one of the easiest outfit formulas around.
Start with your favorite jeans, add a top with a little personality, and finish with a shoe that makes the outfit feel intentional.
Your “elevated top” could be a lightweight sweater, fun print, interesting sleeve, pretty neckline, or even a really good basic paired with great jewelry.
Suddenly, jeans and a top doesn't feel so basic anymore.
Outfit Formula #2: Easy Dress + Great Accessories
There’s a reason we love dresses: one piece and you're almost done.
Add a great shoe, earrings or a necklace, and a handbag and you have a complete outfit without spending 20 minutes trying to figure out what matches.
For Florida weather, lightweight dresses are especially useful because you can change the look throughout the year with your accessories and layers.
Outfit Formula #3: Wide-Leg Pants + Simple Top
When your pants make the statement, your top doesn't have to.
Wide-leg trousers or denim paired with a simple fitted tee, tank, or sweater creates an easy balance.
Add a belt, jewelry, and a great shoe and you're ready to go.
Outfit Formula #4: Basics + One Fun Piece
Your entire outfit doesn't need to be exciting.
In fact, sometimes the easiest outfits start with basics and one piece that does the work.
That could be a bold shoe, statement earrings, a colorful handbag, embroidered denim, a printed top, or a great jacket.
Let that one piece be the star and keep everything else simple.
Stop Trying to Make Every Outfit Perfect
Sometimes we make getting dressed harder than it needs to be.
Your outfit doesn't have to be perfectly coordinated. You don't need the newest trend. And you definitely don't need to follow a list of fashion rules.
Ask yourself one question:
Do I feel good in this?
If the answer is yes, you're dressed.
And if you're still standing in front of your closet saying, “I have nothing to wear,” come see us. We LOVE helping you put it all together.
Style Without Rules. Confidence Without Limits.
