Who Says You Can't Wear That?
It's time to break a few fashion rules.
"You're too old to wear that."
"You can't wear white after Labor Day."
"Black and brown don't go together."
"That style isn't for your body type."
Sound familiar?
Somewhere along the way, fashion became filled with rules about what women should and shouldn't wear. And we're here to tell you something.
Most of those rules were made to be broken.
Let's Talk About Dressing Your Age
This might be our least favorite fashion rule of all.
Who decided that once you reach a certain birthday, you have to stop wearing certain styles?
If you love a great pair of distressed jeans, wear them. If you feel amazing in a fitted dress, put it on. If you love bold prints, bright colors, or a fabulous pair of shoes, why would you stop?
Your age doesn't determine your style.
Your confidence does.
The goal isn't to look younger or older. It's to look and feel like yourself.
Can We Finally Retire the White After Labor Day Rule?
We live in Florida, where white jeans are practically a year-round wardrobe staple!
Pair them with a lightweight sweater in the fall, a beautiful blouse for dinner, or a denim jacket when the evenings get cooler.
White doesn't suddenly become off-limits because the calendar says September.
And while we're at it, black and brown absolutely belong together. So do navy and black, mixed metals, and even certain prints.
Fashion is much more interesting when we stop treating it like a rulebook.
Stop Letting the Size Tag Make Decisions for You
Here's something we talk about all the time at Cruz By Design.
The size on the tag is just a number.
You might wear a size 6 in one pair of jeans and a size 10 in another. Different brands, fabrics, and silhouettes all fit differently.
And guess what? That's normal.
Instead of focusing on the number, pay attention to how something fits, how it feels, and whether you love the way you look in it.
The right fit matters so much more than the size.
Try the Thing You Think You Can't Wear
Maybe you've convinced yourself that wide-leg jeans aren't for you. Or that you can't wear a certain color, a bold print, or a tucked-in shirt.
But have you actually tried it?
Sometimes all it takes is finding the right version of a style to completely change your mind.
That's one of our favorite parts of helping customers in the boutique. Someone walks in saying, "I could never wear that," and a few minutes later they're looking in the mirror saying, "Wait, I actually love this!"
Those are the moments we live for.
The Only Fashion Rule We Really Believe In
Wear what makes you feel good.
That's it.
You don't need permission to wear something you love. You don't need to dress for anyone else's expectations. And you definitely don't need to follow every trend.
Fashion should be fun. It should make you feel confident. And it should give you the freedom to express yourself.
So the next time you catch yourself saying, "I can't wear that," ask yourself one question:
Who says?
Style Without Rules. Confidence Without Limits.
